Beta version of Shadow Knights?

Just found these early-looking screens of Shadow Knights (third pic). Does anyone have information on this beta?

Differences noted:

* Brown has been changed to yellow in some graphics
* Slightly different sprites and no clouds
* Dragon "Guardian" boss is longer and looks a bit different
* The sky graphics are a little more detailed rather than simply flat-shaded
* The dogs are yellow and look simpler
* Final boss stage looks different with the chandelier being lower and graphics having a pinkish color

Kind of offtopic: but that was a game I remembered from early life. It is interesting for me to look at this since it makes me feel really young again.

Did you try to contact some of the developers? Maybe they can tell you.

I haven't tried to contact anyone yet, but I would assume that if anyone has a beta of the game it would be John Romero.
