When I try to boot from the floppy disks, I get the Page_fault_in_Nonpaged_area BSoD STOP code 0x00000050.
I have changed RAM, chipsets, video RAM, hypervisor, boot floppies and VT-x/AMD-V switch on VirtualBox to no avail.
Please can someone help?
Here is the BSoD:

Re: Windows NT 3.51 Free is not working!
First, don't use VirtualBox for such old OSes.
Re: Windows NT 3.51 Free is not working!
Try using older virtualbox, I use 4.3.8 and it works fine. I have hw acceleration disabled, set 96 mb ram and 16 mb vram. To get better video, check this out: http://www.os2museum.com/wp/nt-video-mi ... urce-code/
edit: looks like you have the server variant, I have the workstation one, but it still should work with older vbox.

You shouldn't use any hypervisor for old os like NT3,51. I'd suggest to use pcem emulator
Re: Windows NT 3.51 Free is not working!
I've never had any problems with NT 3.51 in VirtualBox (4.x or 5.x). When do you get this BSOD? How did you set up the VM? (It's generally best to base it on the preset for NT 4.0, the only thing you need to add is a floppy controller.)
The error "page fault in nonpaged area" is pretty meaningless on its own. Have you installed any third-party drivers at all? The only third-party driver really "needed" for NT 3.51 in VirtualBox is a video driver; the "miniport" driver from OS/2 Museum or VBEMP will work fine.

How come BSoD does not happen in PCem?

Because it's an emulator that emulates the real CPU speed of the CPU's respective time, not going through the host CPUs like what hypervisors do.WindowsNT369852147 wrote:How come BSoD does not happen in PCem?
Re: Windows NT 3.51 Free is not working!
what happened to me when I installed 3.51 on a server motherboard, it gave me a blue screen, it didn't like the motherboard and processors, I had to tell the system it was a single processor setup, rather than letting it decide. ( the screen where you set type of keyboard) After that it installed no bother, might be worth looking into. NT4 did go on the same hardware, but it took a fight and a half, I had to practically strip the system down for that to work.
In the end I decided to retire the board, as it was too temperamental even with windows 2003 server on!

Try using VMware Workstation, and it worked.
