Windows NT build 438 unknown partition

Post by WindowsNT369852147 »

I'm having an error installing Windows NT 3.1 build 438.
I did this:
1. Boot from Windows 98 boot disk
2. lock
3. winnt /c
4. Boot from Windows NT setup disk
5. Reach this screen:

I really need help!
I can't delete the unknown partition and I used FAT16
What can I do?
I like virtualization!

Perhaps you should check the partition you're trying to install NT onto? And make sure it's not FAT32 formatted...

Yeah, if you formatted the disk with Windows 98 boot disk then it's FAT32, which NT 3.1 doesn't support (obviously).

Well, just format it with a MS-DOS (that is previous to win95's release) boot disk, like from 5.x or 6.x.

Don't use any boot disk newer than Windows 95.
Also. don't use any colors on post except to highlight something.
