Windows NT 4.0 Build 1141 STOP 0x0000007B Error
Windows NT 4.0 Build 1141 STOP 0x0000007B Error
Is it just me, or is this build the NT equivalent of Memphis 1351? Now, I tried to run this build on Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 with the following config:
64 MB RAM
1 GB IDE HD formatted with MS-DOS 5.0
No Hardware Virtualization
APM and ACPI are disabled.
After miraculously (Take note: My attempts of installing this build number in the triple digits. (No, seriously. )) getting past the first two stages of setup, this build crashes with the following error:
If I install this build in QEMU, the bootloader doesn't get installed with it.
Can anyone help me with this so called "Satan's build"?

set the CPU affinity to use only a single CPU on vpc2007 via task manager.

Being very n00bish, (It's been 9 months after I stopped using VPC 2007) how do I do that?

Open Task Manager, look for the Virtual PC process, right click on it, set the Affinity to use only a single CPU (this only applies for multicore PCs)

I'm confused. My processor has 4 cores, but I don't see an option of CPU affinity. Could it be that the Windows 8 version of task manager dosen't have that option?

well, there should be an option to set the affinity of a process in Windows 8/8.1's task manager.Courage wrote:I'm confused. My processor has 4 cores, but I don't see an option of CPU affinity. Could it be that the Windows 8 version of task manager dosen't have that option?

No go, I set the affinity of the process, but I still get the same error.

What type of virtual hard drive are you using? Should be IDE
Re: Windows NT 4.0 Build 1141 STOP 0x0000007B Error
Well actually, I found the solution to my problem. It turns out that file copying froze frequently during the setup and the files that were being copied while it froze were corrupt. By chance, one of them was 'Ntoskrnl.exe'. (The NT Kernel) I just solved it by setting the CPU affinity before the setup. (I had misinterpreted the instructions to set the CPU affinity before setup as setting the CPU affinity right there and then.)

That seems to need some sort of 48bLBA fix, or maybe install it on a smaller partition.

I'm a bit confused here... Does the size of the partition make any difference? (I am aware of the max. 2 GB in FAT file systems and max. 4 GB [iirc] in NTFS file system in NT 4.0...)os2fan2 wrote:That seems to need some sort of 48bLBA fix, or maybe install it on a smaller partition.
Courage formatted the partition with MS-DOS 5.0, so maybe the FAT system could cause some sort of interference... Not sure though, this is only my thought about it.

Re: Windows NT 4.0 Build 1141 STOP 0x0000007B Error
When I installed this build in VBox, I used the FAT16 File-system instead of the FAT32 file-system because this build simply doesn't support it. So technically the size of the partition makes a difference because of that.

Well, I have gained more experience since then. You can now use PCem, which works far better for this build than VPC ever did. If you do decide to go with it, the 10.1 experimental branch is the best one to use, and it can be found here:

I think you can use the Oracle VM Virtual Box and set the version to NT 3.51
