Windows NT 5.6 Codename Triton

Post by Brandon Sky »

I would like to reconstruct Windows Triton, the successor to Neptune. Like Odyssey, Triton never got compiled, and it is farther away from getting leaked than Odyssey.
So I will reconstruct Triton, VDI available soon :) Use Virtualbox to run it.
I don't like Neptune (or its activity centers), so this will be based on Windows 2000 Professional SP4.
I will release Triton when development finishes. I will reply with screenshots of Triton when each beta is released.

TO-DOs:
Change boot screen, login screen, and logo
Change build number
Other things
[X] = Cannot be done
[!] = Cannot currently be done
[...] = Work in progress
[√] = Finished.
Nothing = Coming soon.
BUILD LIST:
5.6.4000 (Development start) [√]
5.6.4001 (Development reset) [...]
5.6.4100 (Alpha)
5.6.4310 ( :beta: 1)
5.6.4391 ( :beta: 1.4)
5.6.4450 ( :beta: 2)
5.6.4550 ( :beta: 2.4)
5.6.4690 ( :beta: 3)
5.6.4750 (RC0)
5.6.4844 (RC1)
5.6.4983 (RC2)
5.6.5000 (RTM)

Submit bootscreens and features below (Boot screens can only be 640x480x16).
Of course I won't leak the real Triton unless I contact Microsoft to get an iso.

How to avoid getting your hard work leaked:
step 1: sell CDs of your work
step 2: wait for someone to copy the disc and offer iso's.
step 3: Once someone finds an iso, they will put it on FTP.

I used Window Blinds ;)
For your pleasure, here's a shot of Watercolor on (soon to become) Windows "Triton" build 4000:

Sorry, but i dunno how to change the build number or boot screen.
The wallpaper was my failed attempt of a boot screen. Anyone please make a better boot screen (must be a BMP file and in 640x480x16). And please explain how to change the bootscreen?

Not to be pessimistic but this already ruins it, RAM usage won't be good. It would be nice if someone actually looked into the dependencies of 2250's engine and tried to port it

From all the hacks I've tried, I eventually got the OS/2 boot screen when I booted it up

This is dissapointing. I'm resetting development. Post boot screens and features below.

Offtopic Comment
Try not to reset developement barely 2 hours after announcing the project.
Anyway, presenting my hack-job of a boot screen, made in Paint in 10 minutes:
