Windows NT 4.5???
Windows NT 4.5???
I know that Windows NT 4.0 and NT 5.0 exist, but I heard Windows NT 4.5 exist.
So, I searched for some information about it, and found only one screenshot.
He(who told me about Windows NT 4.5) also said that Windows NT 4.5's build number is 1433.
I think Windows NT 4.5 is just a fake, or just lying.
What do you think about this?

Well, the screenshot is in the video, so I'll give you a link.

Could you please post the screenshot? It would help a lot in finding out if NT 4.5 is real or not.anstein99 wrote:I know that Windows NT 4.0 and NT 5.0 exist, but I heard Windows NT 4.5 exist.

don't bother with videos like that, they only contain fakes. it is obvious that all those screens we're probably edited in paint or some basic program...
As for NT 4.5, i've heard about it, it is rummored to exist, but I doubt it until i can see it...

Re: Windows NT 4.5???
The only NT 4.5 I've ever heard of is Backoffice Small Business Server 4.5. This may be what you are thinking of.
Re: Windows NT 4.5???
Someone told me about that nt 4.5 build about two years ago, however after some researching it turned out that it did not exist.

Re: Windows NT 4.5???
Actually, this is a joke video. Do you think that Windows ME Mistake Edition or Windows XP Crash Edition actually exist?

Re: Windows NT 4.5???
NT 3.5.x does exist as Client and Server and NT3.5.x Server was sold also optionally bundled together with Microsoft Exchange, IIS and other software as "Back Office Server" ( think of that as todays "Small Business Server" - many MS products into one setup ).
these 3.5.x series evolved from a GUI perspective from progman.exe as the UI into the so beloved NT4- Explorer.exe UI. But it was nothing unusal to see the Win31 UI Servers togethet with connected Win95/98 machines. I myself have seen those in Action in a real world company.
NT4 was in use long over the year 2000 and was also the first major OS that Microsoft backported some of its key-technologies like the Active Desktop,IE4,5 and finally 6 because the rtm product was not even very Internet centric marketed. NT4 bridged the gap to the new client OS, win95 , but internals are extremely identic to NT3.5.1 - more or less only a cosmetic thing plus a slightly changed driver model and some new control panels for better/easier administration.
NT4 was highly welcomed for its stability, compared to the lousy uptimes and all the BSODs of Win95, but was not suitable for home users or new technologies that arose in the mid to end 1990s, especially not for USB which became a must have in 97/98/99 - and evolved into the standards we still use today. NT could not cope with that. It also had extremely bad energy options, so nothing for mobile computing which also became more and more popular.
So - Critics on NT4 over its long lifecycle from OEM vendors like IBM and Toshiba was the missing plug'n'play, DirectX and USB support, customers asked for NT on Laptops especially Thinkpads and higher valued machines - so Microsoft anounced relatevly early ( I can remember back to 97/98 ) that the next NT, version 5 would have all that, including power-options for APM and ACPI so OEMs could preload it on Laptops for Businesses. NT4 was rarely used for mobile computing because it was mainly used on fixed workstations and servers.
As far as I remember only IBM offered Thinkpads with full driver support right from the beginning, when 3.5.1 and 4.0 went mainstream. ( to be honest : IBM neded a replacement for their own IBM OS/2 which was also loaded on Laptops in 95-97 on Thinkpads but became more and more unpopular - because OS/2 and NT have a lot in common and desire mor eor lesss the same ( high ) memory, this was ok, but to use Irda,USB and whatver Microsoft nor vendors could develop real driver support. Only because of that a newer NT with all the new standards ( AGP anyone ? ) was badly needed.. MS understood the signs of the times.
So development on NT5 was very very early and started within the time that NT4 was already out, but Microsoft always refered to it as NT 5.
So no, 4.5 definately not. First alphas of "NT5" ( suddenly changed to Win2000 in 98/99 ) even showed 5.xx as version.

It is not.It may be a beta build of Windows Millenium.
Windows 98SE build is 2222 and not 1222, and all WinME beta builds are from 22xx-25xx interval.
And I agreed with others, there very small chance that some NT 4.x except 4.0 are exist.
