i saw...:

my final of nt 4 (real final!) has the build: 4.0.1375.1

can that be???
These two builds marked as 1371 and 1375 are mislabelled. They're both the checked version of 1381. Please show me your NT4 build 1375. AFAIK, all final builds of NT4 are build 1381, no matter if Workstation, Server or Embedded.

People are often misled by thinking the Winnt32.exe is what reflects the
build numbers of the NT4 builds, it rarely ever does...
Expand the User32.dll & the Shell32.dll & check thier file versions, the later
version number of the 2 is what usually reflects the correct build number
of the operating system...

Check NTOSKRNL.EXE after extracting too. That should give a clue on the real build number as well.

ok, thats right, sry, but if the file on the server is the final, why does it only start in debuge mode? the final works perfectly for me...

These builds on the server are the final, but one of them, the one you installed, is the Debug/Checked Build. It is an entirely different CD which can also be verified by checking its label.

...and the other

I sincerely hope it's clear now...

edit: Check the label of the version you have. Does it contain the letters "CHK"? If it does, it's a checked build.

I do think I am. And I also think both Beta 1 and 2 of NT4 are on the server.

IIRC only the i386 folder. In other words, install needs to be started manually.

This is the VERY rare Windows 3.1 start button (part of a service pack that was never publicly released):

Image

I also have the only known screenshot of the elusive Windows 1.0; I can only reveal the start button, however:

Finally, I found this easter egg in Microsoft Bob:

BTW, why does the image uploader convert my lovely PNGs into stinky JPGs? I know older browsers don't support PNG, but what is this, an abandonware forum?

But this one is real, I promise. It's from the uber-rare Windows Really Good Edition that was created solely to be given to Bill Gates as a Christmas gift.

Wow, I've never heard of that Christmas one. Here's the one he normally uses for those of you who haven't seen it (it's a billion dollar Bill.. a bill with his face on it):
