According to The WoW Diary (John Staats, 2018), this was the third internal alpha release, initially starting at a patch level of 0.3.0, and slowly adding features that they wanted to show off at E3. It also appears that this may have been the first public view of the final UI.

Between March and May of 2003, a lot of internal PVP tests were performed, and the final server infrastructure was decided.
