"1" Placed Before VPN Server Name in the Dial-Up Networking Folder

SYMPTOMS

A "1" is placed before the virtual private network (VPN) host server name in the properties for a connection in the Dial-Up Networking folder. You see the "1" in Details view in the Phone# or Host column. Example:


WORKAROUND

When you are viewing the VPN server information in the connection's properties, press the TAB key to move around the screen, and then click OK. The "1" is removed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
