MPRJ4: Unexpected Results with Help in Print Dialog Box

Q128698

kbother projmac

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you open the Print dialog box, if you click the Help button or press the HELP key, one of the following may occur:

  • a system Help dialog box appears describing the different printer options
  • the Microsoft Project Help window appears with the Microsoft Project Help Contents screen active instead of a particular Help topic.

CAUSE

The behavior that occurs when you display Help in the Print dialog box depends on the active printer, and the way that you access Help. For example, if you are using the StyleWriter II printer driver, and you click the Help button in the Print dialog box, a system help dialog box appears with help on the different printer options. However, if you press the HELP key in the Print dialog box, using the same printer driver, the Microsoft Project Help window appears, displaying the general Help Contents screen.

Note that in both Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, when you press the HELP key in the Print dialog box, the application Help window appears with the Print Command (File menu) help topic active.

WORKAROUND

To display Help on the Print dialog box in Microsoft Project, do the following:

  1. To display Microsoft Project Help, choose Microsoft Project Help from the Help menu, or press the HELP key.
  2. In Help, click Search.
  3. In the Help dialog box, type print command and click Show Topics.
  4. From the list of topics, select Print Command, and click Go To.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
