Classic Shell Substitute for Windows XP

Post by thepatrickboots »

Hello!! Writing to ask if there is a program like "Classic Shell" for customization of the Start Menu in Windows XP.
As far as I know Classic Shell itself is only compatible after Vista.
I'm looking to make a "Classic" style start menu to go along with my theme.
Is there a Windows XP-Compatible utility that can do this?

Why would you need it? Because Windows XP already has that "Classic Start menu" thing built in.

Just follow these steps:
- In Control Panel, double-click Appearance and Themes.
- Click Taskbar and Start Menu.
- On the Start Menu tab, click Classic Start menu, and then click OK.

Then it should look like this

If you want to change your start button, then google some start button changer for Windows XP.

I'm aware of that option, but am looking for one to go with my current theme, which is a Black version of Luna . The classic option doesn't really look 'in place'.
(I should have worded the original post differently.)

There was this very old stuff which was pretty customizable, it might be interesting to give it a try.

If only my software could reach beta.

LiteStep was an available shell replacement which used explorer for file management was for 98/XP back in that day, though I no longer have the installers, and haven't since about 2003. If you Google Windows shell replacements or check it out on Wikipedia you should find what you're looking for, though 8/10 of them are abandoned.

I now use a antique computer running Windows 98,I had tried to install Windows 2000. This theme also needs to improve.
A little learning is a dangerous thing.
