Windows 3.1 Build 34e Freezing near setup

Hello everybody, I have an issue here.

Everytime I set it up, setup freezes after the 5th disk.

Here are the solutions I used but didn't work:

1. Copy all files from all disks directly

2. Copy All files from the fixes.img file.

3. Restart setup a couple of times.

The version of Build 34e is from WinWorld.

I have also tried starting the OS after the crash, but it crashes on the Bootup screen.

Please help as soon as you can.

Where's the Compatibilty Settings anyway?

When you power off the machine, in the Virtual Machine Details you see "Hardware Compatibility" that should say "Workstation x.x virtual machine", whereas x.x stands for the version of Workstation it's set to be compatible with.

1. Use PCem, not VMWare, for such old builds.

2. Wherever you got the copy of 034e with fixes.img, that's a way outdated fix. Use this Disk 2 instead: http://proxima.rol.im/disk2.img , installs as is, without the needed for manually copying any file.

With PCem, you can even get a resolution as high as 1024x768x15bpp with this build of Windows 3.10. (061d and later added the ability for full 1024x768x32bpp mode)
