So, in reaction to Microsoft dropping support for Windows XP, China is developing a variant of their Linux-based Kylin distro to replace it: NeoKylin.

I'd also caught mention that the Chinese government actually banned Windows 8 in retaliation for Microsoft dropping XP support. Yow.
Still, though, while it does look like Linux-with-XP's-face, it sounds like it's way too restrictive of what users can do with it. I wonder if that's because it's a variant of their government OS project? Or was it intentionally done to try and curb undesirable activities by the populace?

I actually got a version of it (Red Flag) recently. It (obviously) won't be accepted on the FTP as it is still freely available on a mirror.
