Transparency Windows 7 Build 6801

Post by beta.a.brian »

I installed Windows 7 build 6801,and installed VMWare tools. However, when I switch to the Aero theme, the theme glitches out everything except for window borders. Is there any workaround for this?

The Aero interface requires full Directx 9 compatibility which I dont think any virtual machine environment provides.
If you have DX 9 compatible graphics, you can enjoy the aero interface, but not on any virtual machine..

The never VMware versions have issues with 7 pre-69xx dwm. As wasabilee suggested, try with an earlier VMware version.

Windows Defender for great justice! Bugs are an international trading company. I need to defeat the anti-debugging and obfuscation methods. It wasn't for Intel's absurd ability to load in ie6. Why even waste time with people in an envelope?

betas are different than RTM
and vmware versions are usually tweaked to use them
just as v6.5 is for vista betas
so is 7.x for win7, while 7.0 gives nasty resolution bug for 6801 and fails with 65xx
7.1 fixes these issues

VirtualBox? Even worse... Trust me, Brian: I tested Aero by myself on VirtualBox, and all that I got was a big mess... Graphics were so screwed up that I had to do a restore on the VM.

Win7

P. S.: Did you at least try to use older VMWare software, like many users suggested you?

This is just a driver issue and has nothing to do with the VM.
Try to use the WDDM driver from VM8.0, that seems to work, at least for me.

I'll have you know that me editing my post had nothing to do about what I originally said, so...
what are you on about?

Use VMware 7.1.4 with it's own drivers. It works very well for me. But note: DON'T install the toolbox. It will set the VM's date to the current one, and it will cause the timebomb to activate.

It's fairly straightforward if you want to use tools. Disable time sync: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/micros ... nalId=1189, then install tools.
Lastly, enable aero theme and timebomb fix, allowing you to turn on time sync.

This is on VMWare 7.1.
