Whistler 2419 in VMware installation problem

Hello! I tried to install Whistler build 2419, it boots to the inspecting PC configuretion, then proceeds to Starting Windows Whistler and then just reboots. Real PC is booting normally from this disc. How can i solve this problem?

Have you set the hw compatibility to windows 2000 and NOT XP?

Disable acpi with acpi.present = "FALSE" in your vmx configuration file for the virtual machine, and it will allow you to boot setup just fine (I've tested this configuration multiple times).

I had this problem when Windows 2000 build 2000 boots in vmware.

Seems like a problem with the hardware settings you chose, especially since it happened after it detected your config. Whatsetting have you chosen for the VM?

I had this problem before on Whistler build 2211 in VBox. I think it's a HAL issue according to tD and Kenneth. This problem seems to exist between 2211 and 2416 for me in VBox. Disabling hardware virtualization worked for me. But it is different for each person installing it.

I have a P4 3GhZ CPU so i can't set virtualization. P4 doesn't support it.

I have a P4 3GhZ CPU so i can't set virtualization. P4 doesn't support it.

There were 2 models of P4 supporting virtualization, 662 and 672, but they were 3.6 GHz and 3.8 GHz.

Just add the line to your vmx configuration then.

Already added. The same result. In vmware player it says that CPU entered shutdown mode etc.

Use another emulator. Earlier Whistlers don't work properly in VMware. Or, you can set up compatiblity with older VMware Products.

Windows Whistler Build 2419 is better to install on the Virtual PC

Use another emulator. Earlier Whistlers don't work properly in VMware. Or, you can set up compatiblity with older VMware Products.

I have a copy of Whistler Build 2419 and I had to set the date to pre 2001 in the BIOS before I could finish setting up the VM.
