Office 16 Build 16.0.3629.1006

Someone told me that build was provided by Microsoft to external testers.

The buildstring is 16.0.3629.1006 and its called "January Technical Preview Refresh".

Some info about this build:

1. You must uninstall October Build.
2. Prediction functions were added.
3. Powerview throught OLAP 2 connections.
4. Excel BI improves.
5. Info cards added.
6. Lync now is called Skype for Business
7: Languages: EL-GR, RU-RU, HI-IN, ES-ES,IT-IT, NB-NO, TR-TR,VI-VN,KO-KR,PT-BR.

Waiting for more info and (maybe) the setup files.

I'm currently downloading the build with all the sku and languages, it can take a long time, it should be ready for tomorrow and uploaded to the ftp.

That's not any new. It's been known since the first Office 16 release to testers signed *NDA*..
Stream files contain several Office products. You can install any of them, however you need to own valid license to activate them upon installation.

I know, I experimented with the configuration files earlier today, and as for the NDA, I didn't signed any NDA, and I didn't originaly leaked the build, someone leaked the c2r updater / downloader yesterday.

BTW this auto updater can't be leaked for two reasons :
First : It can download the RTM build of Office 2013
Two : MS could patch the vulnerability on their servers

So I'm only leaking C2R and stream files (as the older releases on the ftp)

I snagged a copy of this one, I installed it on Win10 x64, it installed in the background according to the slide out.
W/o it activated one can only test it for 5 days though before "interruption" whatever that is.

Status Update :

All the C2R files (Because we need to download for offline use and to prevent the risk of MS taking the server down) have been downloaded and archived, some of them have their upload finished, it is still uploading for the majority of them.

There is 34,6 Go of Office files from this build.

I also checked the original build 1006 on MS server, it does not exist anymore, so we can't get this build, only 1008 and later.

And for anyone wondering, Yes I have automated with a script the download process of any build with all the country variants and automated the archiving and etc... I did not do all of that manually of course.

Correction :

Lync is called Skype for Business, just not in the shortcuts and several parts of the ui.
Anyway they did a good job on this branding animation :

For the ones who wants to have Project and Visio from any builds download this script and place it into the same folder as the one where you have the setup.exe, then open the script in notepad (or any text editor) and change the release information (32 for x86, en-us for language etc...)

Office 16 will be only available for people who have an Office-365 sub. And yet MS are making Office available free on Android and iOS. All it needed to get going was my normal Live account details; wouldn't that work for this?

I'd certainly be interested in kicking it about a little anyway, even if I am mainly an OOo user.

You can install it using a different sku string, however I didn't test this and in the official installer files, their are only those sku embedded, (except the visiostdretail and projectstdretail that I added because they work)

Don't get too excited. Office Lime still has issue in filling up stack of call loops without returns on clicking on File menu, which causes the program to throw an exception and exit.
Funny thing is, on setting breakpoints in debugger it doesn't do that behaviour, but doesn't even show up File menu too.

Otherwise, nothing is too interesting in it.

I can't even remember what Office Mondo even is, lol. I don't really care about Office though, I've used openoffice/libreoffice for what seems like forever.

Mondo is a special sku made for developers at Microsoft which installs all the office components (This is the only sku to contain the complete office suite in one) and some debug stuff such as Office Lime which is designed to Test the whole Office UI component set.
It was used in Office 2010 betas and 2013 betas (pre-consumer preview).

I also checked the original build 1006 on MS server, it does not exist anymore, so we can't get this build, only 1008 and later.

Sadly, nobody has it, given that a few people knows the trick to download the stream files and few people does have the time to do it. So only 1008 sadly.

I had way more fun testing Moorea back in 2011 than Lime.
I suppose since Moorea was more of a graphics app.

As far as I know , for these builds you'll need an active Office 365 subscription to activate them.
If you do not have them , the best that you can do is use the rearm command in ospp.vbs(up to 15 days)(use /help or /? for instructions on how to use this tool , it can be found in the Office16 directory).

Not necessarily. As Microsoft provides the way to install Project Pro and Visio Pro. However I'm not authorized to speak of that here. See my post about the skus.
