I recently came across this video on youtube:
I have no idea if it is real or not. I remember reading somewhere that it was fan made, but unable to confirm for sure.
So, what on earth is this? Does anyone know if this intro is real?

I'm pretty sure Apple might have made it... using the crappy progressive music and saying
"Welcome" in millions of different languages. Then again, a fan might have made this as well, but who
would go this far, just make something useless like this?

It is(was) real, but this version never made it in the final cut.
As for why it didn't make it, I've heard it was too taxing on the lower end systems at the time - but whether this is true or not I'm not sure.

Hi Biohead,
I confirm your comments. indeed this was a real intro to the first developer release and yes in panther there were initial issues with lower end systems which caused a re-write holding the launch back slightly. It's actually nice to hear that demo again after so long.
