[TUT] How to disable ACPI on VirtualBox

Post by kappabeta »

Tired of getting BSODs, Guru Meditations, and hardware detection freezes on Memphis builds? Well this guide is for you.
The ACPI on/off parameter can only be changed via VBoxManage:
VBoxManage modifyvm "Name goes here" --acpi on/off
I hope this helps!
Rest In Peaces:
R.I.P Windows XP 2001-2014
R.I.P OSBA 2003-2006
R.I.P MouseOnMars 2013-2014

Yeah, but how to access to VBoxManage? I tried so many times, but that damn Command Prompt won't "recognize VBoxManage etc etc. as a command or batch file"...

You just need to go to the VirtualBox folder in programfile (Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\). Shift-right-click it, select 'open command prompt here'. Now you are in the right dir in cmd to use VBoxManage (as the file VBoxManage is in the VirtualBox folder)

Hope this helps!

My guess is your trying to virtualize Memphis, but you didn't provide any information on what kind of system you are using as the virtual machine host. I also need to know the version of VirtualBox you are using, as there are some incompatible differences even between minor versions.
