[OFFER] Windows 9x AIO Installation CD

Post by Fallen Souls »

I have a .ISO of a fantastic AIO CD of:

Windows 95 C
Windows 98
Windows 98 SE
Windows ME
+ Update Installations

This is a fully bootable CD, that uses the windows 98 boot disc to boot into a DOS environment.

In DOS all you need to do is fdisk the drive and when it is partitioned type in "D:\" then "setup"
It will then prompt you for what windows you would like to install.
Image
Afterwards it formats the drive
Image
Then it unzips all the Windows installation files to the HD, so that the CD is not needed again in the future.
Image
Then it prompts a cd key to use and starts the installation.

If anyone wants it, I will upload to the FTP.

Is this from official Microsoft media? If not, what is its origin?

Its a custom made CD, it uses DOS and .bat files.

I've had it for ages off a torrent. it was called the Windows 9x Project.

It looks good, and useful, but I don't think it would be accepted on the FTP if it's non-official media...

It's a theme made by a guy called zainadeel from Deviantart called Shine 2.0 if I remember correctly, I think the Blend 2.0 it's much rounded and in my opinion looks nicer.
You can get it from zainadeel's Gallery located here: http://zainadeel.deviantart.com/
Please note that you have to patch your uxtheme accordingly to your Service Pack.
I hope this helped you out.

That guy is a genius. I love his design and a lot of people use his theme. I've seen a lot of screenshots of Windows 7 machines that used this theme and also his Blend 2.0 theme. He should make some more of these, I'm pretty sure that those will be as popular as these two are at the moment. Two thumbs up for him for making these great custom themes.

This will probably be rejected by mrpijey because it's a customization not an actuall MS-made image...

The "play" and "talk" buttons are so true of system file patching/modifying and also of the internet generally... 8-)

Best part about UXStyle is that you don't need to patch files. It's a service that unlocks it. Works across updates and reboots too. Only service I use now.

One can generally make quite useful Win9x cdroms as follows. Disk 1 installs Win95, Win98se and WinME. This particular cluster, and the selected directories, are of use by programs like LitePC's 98Lite, MdGX's 98SE2ME and by the utility that makes MS-DOS 7.1/8.0. (Localised Wengier China-DOS). These utilities are not included, but the disks are already in place for it to use.

Code: Select all

cd 1

ADD-ONS From the Win98 disks
ADMIN From the Win95 disks
EXTRA Additional stuff
FIX95 The fast cpu fix, from the cd
FIX98 98 style fix, still in works
FUNSTUFF just HOVER and PICTURES
OTHER Win95 directory
PATCHES Assorted post install fixes
PLUS95 Diskette version
PLUS98 The cdrom version, Extra utilities extracted
RESKIT The retail win98 version
SUPPORT Extra things grouped here. inc win95cmd
TOOLS The win98 diskettes
WIN31 Upgrades, also dual-boot support, reskits, etc
WIN95 Win95 upgrade tapes
WIN98 Win98se upgrade tapes
WIN9X WinME upgrades

cd 2

BOOT Diskette images, incl Win311, fix95cpu
DATALINK From 95 diskette
DOS9X DOS files, inc oldmsdos sets, OEM setups, and upg
DRIVER95 Drivers from 95/osr2 cdrom,
DRIVER98 Drivers from 98/98se disk
DRIVERME Drivers from ME disk
FIX95 Alternate 95 fix
FIXES (to be removed eventually, it currently contains alternate Fix95's)
OEM File selection from the 95 OPK set
PLUS 95 Plus! from 95 cdrom
README Readmes for all versions
SUPPORT msjava and unjava, + res95 tape
TOOLS FAC directories from OSRs 2,3,4,5
WIN95 Win95 osr2 base
WIN98 Win98 fe
WIN9X Files from winme removed from disk 1
WINDOWS Assorted add copies to Win95/98 (this may be eventually removed)

Since all of Win9x is abandonware now I won't mind having this post and link. But as FoobyZeeky and DeFacto pointed out, it's a custom image and will thus not be put on the FTP. We should have all of the original media on the FTP by now anyway.

However someone will have to tell me if that AiO contains any cracks or retail serial numbers etc.

My set does not contain serial numbers, as far as i can tell. Certianly the OS tapes do not have this.

It is more akin to 'best of 9x' and 'rest of 9x', mainly for research purposes. Serial numbers, where needed, are to be included on working diskettes, the files containing these (eg MSBATCH.INF), are quite often changed and are thus stored in working files.

I'd rather use MediaFire, there's no (stupid) waiting... Plus MU will open a [censored] pop-up add everytime you click "Regular download"...

Megaupload would keep the file longer though, I've seen stuff uploaded to megaupload that's survived several years.

Actually, two people suggested Megaupload (I don't want to turn this into a flamewar though :P)
