Released over a month after 2250, this build contains many improvements over it. It was the first 'Personal' SKU build to leak and was, indeed, only leaked in the 'Personal' SKU for many years. On 31st August 2014, the 'Professional' SKU of this build was leaked. An IA64 'Advanced Server' build also exists.

It improves the 'Professional' theme that was found in 2250 and renames it to 'Watercolor'. It also replaces many 'Windows 2000' references with 'Whistler'. One notable exception in the IA64 'Advanced Server' build is the buildtag. It identifies itself as 'Windows 2000 Advanced Server, 64-bit Edition'. (Another one is in the System Properties. All Whistler builds until 2464 Server identify themselves as 'Windows 2000'.)

It is the first build that has the new Start menu enabled by default (2250 had it, but it was hidden) and it has received a makeover, looking completely different from the version found in 2250.

This build has a new bootscreen. However, it is hardly changed from the Windows 2000 bootscreen. (It only changes the name to 'Microsoft Codename Whistler' and removes the 'Built on NT Technology' tag.) The IA64 'Advanced Server' build has a variant of this; it uses the Windows 2000 Server bootscreen, but with a large '64' painted on the right side (to indicate that this is a IA64 build).
