Windows 95 (codenamed Chicago) is the first 16/32-bit hybrid version of the Microsoft Windows. It featured the new explorer shell, and Windows Desktop Update (also known as the IE 4 Shell Update) can be installed to it in order to get the updated shell like in Windows 98.
