Custom icons

I think it's a better idea if you could upload your screens as stock as possible, i.e, without the custom icons, as they do not come as part of the OS and hence distort an otherwise good image. X010 (talk) 21:51, 26 June 2019 (BST)

Yeah, please keep icons for third party software, or software that does not come with the OS off your screenshots. WILSON2bGg - Plagiarism Police (talk) 22:19, 26 June 2019 (BST)
@WILSON2bGg @x010 You want me to do a clean install? THIS IS WHAT I FUCKING HATE. Being forced to do something just for some screenshots.
As an alternative, can I upload the images from BetaWiki while giving credit?--MCpillager - ARCC (talk) 15:57, 4 July 2019 (BST)
You could just delete the icons for third party software. There’s no one forcing you, you don’t have to make a new one if you don’t want. I just wouldn’t use it for anything as it might confuse people into thinking said third party software might come with the OS. So just delete the third party icons and we’ll be good. I'd agree with WILSON2bGg - you don't actually have to go all the way to reinstall the OS. Deleting the custom icons should be pretty painless - you can quickly restore them from the Recycle Bin once that's done. X010 (talk) 22:17, 4 July 2019 (BST)

Reason for deleting 5095

Files like that don’t warrant a whole build page. It might make a decent note for the 5111.1 page, but not a separate page. Just since a file has a version number from a different build doesn’t mean it gets a page, just not enough evidence. If you doubt me, just ask mrpjiey. Rob - Wilson (talk) 05:37, 23 July 2019 (BST)

He's right (but I should still note that movers are not supposed to delete pages other than for maintenance, please tag it for deletion like any other user would). X010 (talk) 07:23, 23 July 2019 (BST)

Windows 3.1 VM

{{Closed|Solved. --ToMi (talk) 17:12, 6 August 2019 (BST) | Hello MCpillager, I need to ask you something about the VM you sent me on the Forum: https://www.betaarchive.com/forum/ucp.php?i=pm&mode=view&f=0&p=94038. I looked at the instructions: https://github.com/86Box/86BoxManager/wiki/Adding-existing-virtual-machines, and I did it exactly according to him.

When I started the VM, I got an error: "No usable ROM images found!". When I looked into the folder you sent me, there was only the "nvr" folder, but there was no "roms" folder. I would like to ask you if it could be fixed, or if the folder is missing. Thank you very much. --ToMi (talk) 15:01, 5 August 2019 (BST)

@ToMiDownload them from here, also put the roms inside the 86box folder.
If it is successful, it should boot up Intel Premiere PCI II with a Pentium I 75Mhz processor.--MÇpïllαgér (tàlk | çøñtrìbs) 15:27, 5 August 2019 (BST)
@MCpillager Unfortunately not successful, is there any other way? Or at least explain in more detail whether I did it right. --ToMi (talk) 15:50, 5 August 2019 (BST)
@ToMi Sounds like you did something wrong. This is what i do:
  1. Install the DirectX June 2010 redist.
  2. Install .NET Framework 4.0.
  3. Download 86Box.
  4. Extract the archive to Program Files.
  5. Download the ROMs.
  6. Unpack the ROMs to the 86Box folder.
  7. Download 86Manager.
  8. Extract the archive to a folder in 86Box called manager.
  9. Run the 86Manager.
  10. Import the VM.
  11. Done.

W98 drivers

Hello MCpillager, i have a question, please what configuration you are used in your Windows 98 VM (in your OS gallery)? I'm planning to install Win98 in 86Box 2.00. Thank you. --ToMi (talk) 17:11, 6 August 2019 (BST)
