Custom icons

I think it's a better idea if you could upload your screens as stock as possible, i.e, without the custom icons, as they do not come as part of the OS and hence distort an otherwise good image. X010 (talk) 21:51, 26 June 2019 (BST)

Yeah, please keep icons for third party software, or software that does not come with the OS off your screenshots. WILSON2bGg - Plagiarism Police (talk) 22:19, 26 June 2019 (BST)
@WILSON2bGg @x010 You want me to do a clean install? THIS IS WHAT I FUCKING HATE. Being forced to do something just for some screenshots.
As an alternative, can I upload the images from BetaWiki while giving credit?--MCpillager - nope (talk) 15:57, 4 July 2019 (BST)
You could just delete the icons for third party software. There’s no one forcing you, you don’t have to make a new one if you don’t want. I just wouldn’t use it for anything as it might confuse people into thinking said third party software might come with the OS. So just delete the third party icons and we’ll be good. WILSON2bGg - Plagiarism Police (talk) 16:37, 4 July 2019 (BST)
I'd agree with WILSON2bGg - you don't actually have to go all the way to reinstall the OS. Deleting the custom icons should be pretty painless - you can quickly restore them from the Recycle Bin once that's done. X010 (talk) 22:17, 4 July 2019 (BST)

Reason for deleting 5095

Files like that don’t warrant a whole build page. It might make a decent note for the 5111.1 page, but not a separate page. Just since a file has a version number from a different build doesn’t mean it gets a page, just not enough evidence. If you doubt me, just ask mrpjiey. Rob - Wilson (talk) 05:37, 23 July 2019 (BST)

He's right (but I should still note that movers are not supposed to delete pages other than for maintenance, please tag it for deletion like any other user would). X010 (talk) 07:23, 23 July 2019 (BST)

Screens

Hello, I wanted to ask you something again. How did you create screenshots of win98 or win2000 in VPC2007, did you use any keyboard shortcuts? Thank you. --ToMi (talk) 16:37, 12 August 2019 (BST)

Do PrntScrn in the VM, open Paint then paste. After that upload it with a web browser like Retrozilla.--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 13:55, 13 August 2019 (BST)
@MCpillager Is there any way to save them in a host computer? --ToMi (talk) 08:40, 14 August 2019 (BST)
@ToMi Enable shared folders on the VM and save them to that. This is what i do.--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 11:51, 14 August 2019 (BST)
@MCpillager Thanks, and I have also problem: I installed Win2000 on it (4GB HDD, 796MB RAM) but the virtual machine is cutting up. You don't know what to do with it? I would also get the VM resolution from 1024x768 to higher. --ToMi (talk) 12:03, 14 August 2019 (BST)
@ToMi Put it in full screen, by doing AltGr+Enter.--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 14:42, 14 August 2019 (BST)
Also 4GB seems small for win2k, especially if you use extended kernel. Id use 32GB instead.--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 14:44, 14 August 2019 (BST)
@MCpillager Thanks, but I thought the display was not flat, I would like normal icons. It can be fixed? --ToMi (talk) 16:31, 14 August 2019 (BST)
@ToMi I dont understand what you mean. Could you please post a pic?--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 15:10, 15 August 2019 (BST)
@MCpillager I thought to get the diplay resolution that you have on your vm screen of Win2k, but the my icons are flat. Its not in 1280xXXX resolution. Its 1024xXXX wide to the display. --ToMi (talk) 15:19, 15 August 2019 (BST)
@ToMi Have you installed VM additions?--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 15:24, 15 August 2019 (BST)
@MCpillager No. --ToMi (talk) 15:32, 15 August 2019 (BST)
@ToMi Do AltGr+I, then install them.--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 15:42, 15 August 2019 (BST)
@MCpillager OK, thanks, I install it with 16GB HDD, 128MB RAM, Guest Additions. --ToMi (talk) 15:51, 15 August 2019 (BST)
@ToMi 128MB RAM is very low if you use Extended Kernel. Id change it to 768MB RAM if not 1GB RAM.--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 15:59, 15 August 2019 (BST)
@MCpillager I pressing Fn+PrintScreen and no screen to paste to paint. --ToMi (talk) 11:22, 17 August 2019 (BST)
@ToMi Just press PrntScrn and paste to paint.--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 11:44, 17 August 2019 (BST)
@MCpillager Yes, on a normal run, but I wanted to capture the login screen and bootscreen but it just doesn't work. --ToMi (talk) 12:26, 17 August 2019 (BST)
@ToMi Open up snipping tool in the host then put the guest on full screen, then take a full screen snip.--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 12:42, 17 August 2019 (BST)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Hello, i tried to install WinNT 4.0 in Vpc2007, after setup, tried to install VM addidions but it seems error: "Wrong OS or OS version", but i thought to get the mouse pointer integration for faster pointer into the VM. It can be fixed? --ToMi (talk) 18:18, 18 August 2019 (BST)

@ToMi Install UltraISO on the host, download http://sdfox7.com/nt40/hiencry/sp6/MSNT128.EXE , put it into an ISO using UltraISO, mount the ISO in the VM then install it. After reboot install VM additions.--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 11:30, 19 August 2019 (BST)

@MCpillager Watch my new OS gallery, i have Win2k and WinNT 4.0. --ToMi (talk) 14:57, 19 August 2019 (BST)
@ToMi If you want to get additions for win95, use the vpc2004 guest additions.--Ḿ̴̩̯̐C̴̨̐̌p̵̡͓̓i̴̲̤̐̔͒l̴̡̽̊͝l̵̡͚̦͛͒̒͘a̴̫̽̆̈́g̵͔̭̊̉̿͜͝e̴̥̅͌r̵̙̲̜̊ (t̷̨̗͓͇̑̓͝ḁ̸̇l̴̘̮͒͛k̵͇̞̃̑̀ͅ | c̶͔̻͈͜͝o̶̞̭͉̯͂͐n̴̰͇̟͒t̴̬̆̈́̉̚r̴̦̟͖̃̔̀̿i̴͚̮̥̓͠ḅ̸̤̮̳̓͝s̸̳̏) 15:48, 20 August 2019 (BST)
