Appreciate your work

Just wanted to note that I appreciate the work you're doing, given that the wiki is quiet. Let me know if you need anything (such as added rights/permissions) that would help you in your work. X010 (talk) 10:31, 6 April 2021 (BST)

@X010 You're welcome. Thank you for your encouraging words. - Emir214 (talk) 12:12, 6 April 2021 (BST)
I definitely agree with X010. @Emir214, thank you too, I was the only person who was working there (along with X010), so I'd really appreciate your work. ToMi1 (talk) 14:25, 6 April 2021 (BST)
@ToMi1 Thank you, too. I appreciate the message. - Emir214 (talk) 05:40, 7 April 2021 (BST)

Uploading multiple files

I'm seeing you upload many files, and think Special:BatchUpload should help you there. It's simple, but this will allow you to upload everything at once and then edit them, rather than having to upload one by one. Let me know if there are any issues. X010 (talk) 13:09, 7 April 2021 (BST)

@X010 Thank you. Will test it later. - Emir214 (talk) 00:47, 8 April 2021 (BST)
@X010 Special:Batchupload does not work for me. Dragging images just replaces the page with the first image on the batch, and using the upload box to select files just leads to an indicator of "(number of) files". Special:RecentChanges shows no uploads from the batch. - Emir214 (talk) 06:05, 9 April 2021 (BST)
@Emir214 Fixed, can you try again? Works for me now. X010 (talk) 07:41, 9 April 2021 (BST)
@X010 Works now, thank you. - Emir214 (talk) 11:13, 9 April 2021 (BST)
You can automate the tagging and attribution part when mass-uploading. At any page of your choice (say your userpage), add the following: {{#batchupload:foobar}}. Then you can upload from that page, and the contents of each file you upload will be automatically replaced with {{foobar}}. See User:X010/sandbox for an example. X010 (talk) 12:12, 16 April 2021 (BST)
Thank you for this tool. Will try it tomorrow. - Emir214 (talk) 12:22, 16 April 2021 (BST)

Tagging

It would help if you could tag your images with the appropriate category (for instance, [[Category:Longhorn_4074]]), so that they will automatically be added to the screenshots gallery. Thanks in advance. X010 (talk) 11:10, 9 April 2021 (BST)

@X010 Got it. - Emir214 (talk) 11:13, 9 April 2021 (BST)
Thanks. P.S: I've installed HotCat on the wiki just now, so you can now add categories to any image in one click (just click the last (+) link). Let me know if that does not work for you. X010 (talk) 11:20, 9 April 2021 (BST)
@X010 It works. Thanks for adding it. - Emir214 (talk) 11:34, 9 April 2021 (BST)

BetaArchive Wiki:Helpers

I've added you to that group. You can now do the deletion (as you tagged for duplicates) yourself, move pages without redirects, and some more. Let me know if there are any issues. X010 (talk) 12:00, 9 April 2021 (BST)

@X010 Thank you for this. Will report any issues. - Emir214 (talk) 12:01, 9 April 2021 (BST)

Template:Quotation

I think you have missed the presence of these handy templates for inserting quotation. I tried a couple of examples in WinFS and the templates seem to work well for the article. X010 (talk) 12:37, 10 April 2021 (BST)

Thanks for informing me of the existence of this template. - Emir214 (talk) 04:38, 11 April 2021 (BST)

Adding the JPEG category to disc scan images.

You don't have to add the JPEG category into disc scan images. It is mainly important for screenshots. ToMi1 (talk) 09:14, 16 April 2021 (BST)

Got it. Emir214 (talk) 09:20, 16 April 2021 (BST)
@ToMi Is a JPEG of a disc scan better than a JPEG of a screenshot? X010 (talk) 09:21, 16 April 2021 (BST)
Well, disc scans are mainly taken by a camera, which saves them as a JPEG image, that's normal. But in screenshots, it is better to save them in the PNG format if it is possible, because the interface details are more visible. Of course, if you can save your scans in PNG, it is always better, but if they are in JPEG, it isn't a problem. ToMi1 (talk) 09:24, 16 April 2021 (BST)
