Categorising articles

We normally don't do that. The reason is that categories are normally used for the Screenshots Gallery and it can cause confusion if you mix them up with articles. We instead use subpages to "categorise" articles, that is, Windows Longhorn/6.0.3663.Lab06 N.020728-1728 as an example. Is there something I'm missing? X010 (talk) 18:58, 2 May 2021 (BST)

I'm sorry but the 3663 and 3670 pages contained a category, so I just assumed that it goes on in the wiki. They can be deleted. I'm just achieving consistency. ATeamInc (talk) 19:23, 2 May 2021 (BST)
Wait, did they (I thought you created those two in your sandbox)? X010 (talk) 19:56, 2 May 2021 (BST)
@X010 No, the original articles did, which actually confused me. ATeamInc (talk) 19:57, 2 May 2021 (BST)
Oh, they shouldn't. I'm guessing they were created pre-2019, when the current wiki rules came into force. X010 (talk) 19:59, 2 May 2021 (BST)
@X010 I'd like to get an opinion on these articles, by the way. Please tell me if anything needs changing or does not comply with the rules. Once I'm done with 3670, I hope to move them out of my sandbox area. --ATeamInc (talk) 20:04, 2 May 2021 (BST)
Can I ask how you wrote the 3663 article? Did you copy it from somewhere, because it seems like you did. X010 (talk) 20:08, 2 May 2021 (BST)
@X010 I can assure you I did not copy from anywhere. The information is known, yes, but I wrote it in a proper way (I compared to other stuff as well) and added sources. How did you come to the conclusion I'm copying? If you're looking at the BetaWiki article, I wrote most of the stuff there, so it could be that they look similar (note that I did not look at it while writing and I wrote them a long time ago). --ATeamInc (talk) 20:14, 2 May 2021 (BST)
Just to note, I am not saying that you did; it's just that I've seen quite a few cases of people trying to copy-paste articles from Wikipedia/BetaWiki and I'm kind of strict here.
What you've done is OK. The reason I asked this question is so that if you did copy this from somewhere, I would import the article from BetaWiki/Wikipedia (this is to preserve contribution histories, which is legally required under Creative Commons which most of this wiki uses).
I took a look at your 3663 article and it's fine, no concerns from my side. You will need to delete the currently existing article and replace your article with this (because it's better), and I'll shortly give you the ability to do so.
(P.S: we're normally prefer covering only confirmed builds, but I'm OK with giving you an exemption) X010 (talk) 20:48, 2 May 2021 (BST)
And I've added you to the BetaArchive Wiki:Helpers group, which should allow you to delete/replace any article, and move without redirect. X010 (talk) 20:53, 2 May 2021 (BST)
Great, thanks a ton. I'm planning on improving everything I can, so Longhorn is just the start. As of these unconfirmed builds, they are the earliest known builds of Longhorn and they seem significant in the community, which is why I'm properly writing the articles. For other unconfirmed articles of course, they should be removed (also known fakes such as build 3708 etc.). ATeamInc (talk) 20:59, 2 May 2021 (BST)

Uploading with catgorisation

You can have the batch uploader add the category you want automatically. See User:X010/sandbox for an example. This saves you from having to add them manually later. X010 (talk) 14:39, 3 May 2021 (BST)
