APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 Enterprise Edition
SYMPTOMS
When an application calls a Transaction Integrator (TI) Windows Initiated Process (WIP) object in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004, the W3wp.exe worker process that hosts the TI WIP .NET component stops responding. This problem occurs after the application successfully calls the TI WIP .NET component multiple times. Over time, you notice that multiple W3wp.exe worker processes are not responding on the computer.
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- The Host Integration Server 2004 TI WIP .NET component is hosted on an Internet Information Services (IIS) server.
- The application calls the TI WIP object to communicate with a CICS application on an IBM mainframe.
CAUSE
Heap corruption in the W3wp.exe worker process causes the W3wp.exe worker process to stop responding. When previous W3wp.exe worker processes stop responding, new W3wp.exe worker processes may be started. Therefore, multiple W3wp.exe worker processes stop responding over time.
