Microsoft Office is a set of programs to aid in office-related tasks (hence the name) on Microsoft and Apple operating systems. The current available versions are Microsoft Office 2010 for Windows, released on June 15, 2010 and Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac OS X, released on October 26, 2010. Each major version is available in a variety of SKUs which differ in their target audience and range of functions, from a OEM starter edition with only light versions of Word and Excel to high-priced packages that contain every program available for larger businesses.
