You cannot play content on the Zune device after you disconnect the Zune device from the computer

SYMPTOMS

After you remove the Zune sync cable to disconnect the Zune device from the computer, you cannot play content. Or, the "Connected" message remains on the Zune device. Additionally, if you reconnect the Zune device to the computer, the Zune software cannot detect the Zune device.

THINGS TO TRY

Restart the Zune device. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Set the Hold switch to the unlocked position.

    Note To make sure that the Hold switch is in the unlocked position, you may have to move the switch back and forth until the switch is in the correct position.

  2. Press and then hold the Back button [GRAPHIC: back button] as you press the top of the Zune pad.
  3. Release the buttons when the Zune device begins to restart.
