PRB: Move Command on Control Menu Requires Keyboard Input

SYMPTOMS

After choosing the Move command from the Control menu of any non-standard window, you are unable to change the window's location with the mouse.

CAUSE

The Palette and Toolbox windows in Microsoft Access are non-standard windows. Like other windows, you can move these windows by dragging the title bar of the window to the new location. But unlike other windows, dragging the title bar will have no effect if you choose the Move command from the window's Control menu.

RESOLUTION

After choosing the Move command from the Control menu of any non- standard window, use the ARROW keys on the keyboard to move the window.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

Open the sample database NWIND.MDB.
Using the mouse, drag the title bar of the Database window to a new location on your screen. You will have successfully moved the window.
Press ALT+MINUS SIGN (-) to open the Database window's Control menu.
Choose Move.
Repeat step 2. Note that you can still move the window with the mouse.
Open the Categories form in Design view. If the Palette window is not visible, choose Palette from the View menu.
Select the Palette window. Press ALT+MINUS SIGN (-) to open the Palette window's Control menu. Choose Move.
Using the mouse, drag the title bar of the Palette window to a new location on your screen. Note that the window does not move.
