Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You have a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS) package. The SSIS package contains a data flow task. The data flow task contains a Fuzzy Lookup transformation that references a table. You run a DML statement against the table. In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

Msg 6549, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_FuzzyLookupTableMaintenanceInvoke, Line 0
A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user defined routine or aggregate 'sp_FuzzyLookupTableMaintenanceInvoke':
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Transaction is not allowed to roll back inside a user defined routine, trigger or aggregate because the transaction is not started in that CLR level. Change application logic to enforce strict transaction nesting.
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException:
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection)
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnectionSmi.ExecuteTransaction(TransactionRequest transactionRequest, String transactionName, IsolationLevel iso, SqlInternalTransaction internalTransaction)
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalTransaction.Rollback()

RESOLUTION

Note Because the builds are cumulative, each new fix release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release. Microsoft recommends that you consider applying the most recent fix release that contains this hotfix. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 hotfixes are created for specific SQL Server service packs. You must apply a SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 hotfix to an installation of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. By default, any hotfix that is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server service pack.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
