Notice

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SUMMARY

This article describes the following about this hotfix release:

  • Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other hotfix package

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft SQL Server 2005, you configure a merge replication. You run the UPDATE or DELETE statement against the publication database or against the subscription database. In this scenario, when you synchronize the merge replication, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

Msg 8152, Level 16, State 11, Procedure
MSmerge_del_GUID, Line 42 String or binary data would be truncated.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because SQL Server 2005 incorrectly updates the MSmerge_contents table when you synchronize the merge replication.
