Last reviewed: July 30, 1997
Article ID: Q93404

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word for Macintosh, versions 5.0 and 5.1

SUMMARY

If a Word for the Macintosh document contains many citations created using EndNote Plus, a third-party Plug-in Module (PIM), Word may take up to ten seconds to complete a copy or cut operation. The number of citations required to cause this problem is not specific, but the symptoms should appear if your document contains 100 citations.

MORE INFORMATION

EndNote Plus is manufactured by Niles and Associates, Inc. According to Niles and Associates, Inc., this problem is due to an incorrect algorithm in EndNote Plus. If you are using the EndNote Plus PIM and experience the above problem in a Word document, contact Niles and Associates Customer Support at (510) 649-8176.

Workaround

To alleviate the slow operation speed, do the following:

  1. From the Tools menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Under the General category, clear the Background Repagination check box.
  3. Under the View category, select the Picture Placeholders check box.
  4. Close the Preferences dialog box.
