Empty folders appear in the %Windir%\system32 folder after you install Antigen 8.0 for Exchange to filter e-mail messages

Article ID: 933441

Article Last Modified on 5/23/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Sybari Antigen 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange

SYMPTOMS

After you install Sybari Antigen 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange to filter e-mail messages, empty folders appear in the %Windir%\system32 folder on the computer that is running Antigen. The empty folders have names that match .rar attachments that were processed by Antigen.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because version 8.00.1517 of Antigen for Exchange creates temporary folders in the %Windir%\system32 folder when a .rar file is processed. After the .rar file is processed, these folders remain in the %Windir%\system32 folder.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) to receive a software update for this problem. Or, upgrade to Microsoft Antigen 9.0 for Microsoft Exchange.

Note After you apply the software update or upgrade to Antigen 9.0, you must manually delete the existing empty folders that were created by Antigen in the %Windir%\system32 folder.
