SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You are running a computer on which the Swedish version of Windows Vista was preinstalled by the manufacturer. However, you notice that certain elements of the user interface are not displayed as expected. Specifically, certain elements of the user interface contain English text, text that is truncated, or linguistic errors.

Most preinstalled systems are not affected by this problem. To determine whether you are experiencing these symptoms, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start [GRAPHIC: Start button], and then click Help and Support.
  2. Under Information från Microsoft, click Söka efter filer och mappar.
  3. In the upper-right corner, click Visa allt.
  4. Under Filtrera filerna, view the text that is displayed in the image.

The image contains the English words "Sort" and "Group." If these words are displayed in Swedish as "Sortera" and "Gruppera," you are not experiencing this problem.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if an incorrect version of the Swedish Windows Vista user interface was preinstalled on the computer.
