Bug#: 50000771 (SQL Hotfix)
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You have a computer that is running the version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services that is included in SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition. You use the Association Rules algorithm to process a data mining model. In this scenario, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

- This problem only occurs in the version of Analysis Services that is included in SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition.
MiningModelNameis a placeholder for the name of the data mining model.Numberis a placeholder for a number of attributes.- If the computer is running the 32-bit version of Analysis Services, the text in the
Editionplaceholder is "Standard Edition." If the computer is running the 64-bit version of Analysis Services, the text in theEditionplaceholder is "64 Bit Standard Edition."
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the number of attributes that you specify for the Association Rules algorithm exceeds the limit.
RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. In the version of Analysis Services that is included in SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition, the maximum number of attributes that you can specify in the Association Rules algorithm is 5,000.
You can define a slice on the cube to restrict the number of attributes that you can specify in the Association Rules algorithm. However, Analysis Services does not consider the slice when it determines the total number of attributes for the Association Rules algorithm. After you apply this hotfix, Analysis Services uses the slice to restrict the number of attributes when it determines the total number of attributes for the Association Rules algorithm.
