SYMPTOMS

When you try to take one of the following actions, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 may stop unexpectedly:

  • Close the current solution by clicking Close Solution on the File menu
  • Exit the Visual Studio 2005 IDE

This problem may occur when one or more of the following conditions are true:

  • One or more projects in the solution contain .asm files.
  • A project in the solution contains no C files or C++ files.


RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Visual Studio 2005 service pack that contains this hotfix.
