This article describes the Microsoft Office Excel 2003 issue that is fixed in the Office 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package that is dated February 7, 2007.

INTRODUCTION

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

  • When you try to view a Web page that contains an Excel 2003 PivotTable component in Windows Internet Explorer 7, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

    The query could not be processed:
    Error opening data file "filepath"

    This issue occurs when the Office Web Component CommandText property value is set to the path of a file on the local computer instead of the system-generated path.


RESOLUTION

This problem was first fixed in a hotfix that is now contained in a service pack. If you installed the latest Office 2003 service pack, you do not have to install the hotfix.

Service pack information

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.This problem was first corrected in Office 2003 Service Pack 3.

MORE INFORMATION

This issue does not occur in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.
