SUMMARY

This article describes how to add media to a Media Center Extender library.

MORE INFORMATION

For a Media Center Extender to access media content that is located on a Windows Vista-based Media Center PC, the Extender must have the appropriate permissions to the content.

During setup, the Media Center Extender will be configured to the use the same digital media folders that are used on the Media Center computer. After setup, additional folders can be added by using the library setup on the Extender. For a Media Center Extender to access content in the media folders that are located on a Windows Vista-based Media Center computer, the Extender must have the appropriate permissions to the content. In some cases, you must manually set the permissions for the Media Center Extender account. By default, the Extender account is named MCX1. If more than one Extender is connected, this name may change to MCX2, MCX3, and so on.

For the Extender to use this media, the Extender account must have Read, Read & Execute, and List Folder Contents permissions to the content.

Notes

  • After you set up the Media Center Extender, the Extender does not automatically add media to the library. To add media to the Media Center Extender library, you must add the media manually.
