SYMPTOMS
When you enable the Automatically download enclosures setting for RSS feeds in the Office Customization Tool (OCT), the Automatically download enclosures feature is not set correctly. In this situation, when you disable the Automatically download enclosures setting, the Automatically download enclosures feature is enabled. Additionally, attachments are included in the download. When you enable the setting, the feature is disabled. Additionally, attachments are not included in the download.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the information is incorrect in the Outlk12.adm file and in the Outlk12.opa file.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, modify the Outlk12.opa file in Notepad. To do this, follow these steps.
Note If you plan to deploy settings to the client in the initial deployment, and you do not plan to use policy settings to enforce those settings after deployment, you must modify only the .opa file. If you do not plan to deploy settings to the client in the initial deployment, and you will use policy settings to enforce settings after deployment, you must modify only the .adm file. If both the deployment of initial settings and the enforcement of those settings after deployment are wanted, you must modify both the .opa file and the .adm file. We recommend that you modify both the .opa file and the .adm file to avoid possible errors.
- Open the Outlk12.opa file in Notepad.
Note The Outlk12.opa file is located in the \Admin\languagefolder of the original product image on the volume license 2007 Microsoft Office products that include Microsoft Office Outlook. Before you modify this file, make a backup copy of the original version. - After you open the file in Notepad, locate the line that begins with the following text:
POLICY !!L_Automaticallydownloadenclosures
- Change EnableEnclosures to EnableAttachments.
- Save the file.
Notes- This change enables the OCT to set the Automatically download enclosures setting.
- This change must be repeated for each language that is used.
- The steps to modify the Outlk12.adm file are the same for the Outlk12.opa file.

To view the Automatically download enclosures setting in the OCT, follow these steps:
- Start the OCT. To do this, click Start, click Run, type
Office installation CD\setup /admin, and then click OK. - In the Select Product dialog box, click OK.
- In the Navigation Pane, click Modify user settings in the Features area.
- Expand Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, expand Tools|Account Settings, and then click RSS Feeds.
- Click Automatically download enclosures.
