SYMPTOMS

When you try to set the value of the IVSSItem.AutoDetectEncoding property to "false" in Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 2005, you receive the following error message if the item is checked out:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8004D67F): You cannot modify the properties of a file that is checked out.

You must have Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 2005 installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart Requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix replaces the following Knowledge Base hotfixes:

  • 930282 FIX: Binary files may be corrupted when you try to use the Get command to retrieve the files from the history in Visual SourceSafe 2005

  • 930573 FIX: Visual SourceSafe 2005 may stop responding when you generate a report in the "Show History" dialog box

MORE INFORMATION

This hotfix updates the Visual SourceSafe 2005 automation interface. After you apply the hotfix, you can set the value of the IVSSItem.AutoDetectEncoding property to "false" when an item is checked out.

Note When you use an automation interface to check in changes in Visual SourceSafe 2005, the operation may fail if the value of the IVSSItem.AutoDetectEncoding property is set to "true."
