When you use the Outlook Profile Settings option in SBS 2003 to configure Outlook 2007, the settings are not applied to client computers that are running Windows XP

SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2003 network, if you use the Outlook Profile Settings option in SBS 2003 to configure Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, the settings are not applied to client computers that are running Microsoft Windows XP. Instead, the first time that you start Outlook 2007 on a Windows XP-based client computer, you are prompted to configure an Outlook account.

Note You set the Outlook Profile Settings option in the Setup Computer Wizard or in the Assign Applications Wizard.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the Windows Vista and 2007 Office compatibility update for Windows Small Business Server 2003 before you configure Outlook 2007. Note If your SBS 2003 network includes Windows Vista-based client computers, you may have to apply other updates that are listed in article 926505.
