Article ID: 931734

Article Last Modified on 5/10/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you create an address list in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, distribution groups that match the filter that you use do not appear in the Address List Preview dialog box. However, if you view the properties of the distribution group in the Exchange Management Shell, the address list that you created is listed in the AddressListMembership attribute.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the Group Scope setting for the distribution group is set to Global or Domain Local in the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, convert the distribution group that you want to see in the Address List Preview dialog box to a universal group. To do this, right-click the disribution group in the Exchange Management Console, and then click Convert to Universal Group.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
