SYMPTOMS

You use the Distributed File System (DFS) Replication feature on a Windows Server 2003 R2-based computer. During an initial sync of a replicated folder, replicated files are copied over the network. This issue occurs when one of the following conditions is true:

  • The replicated files are staged on the sending member, and the staged files exist on the receiving member.
  • The replicated files already exist in the replicated folder on the receiving member.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Distributed File System Replication (DFSR) service does not use the Remote Differential Compression (RDC) feature.
