SYMPTOMS

When you use Internet Explorer 7 in Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), an access violation may occur when you close a pop-up window.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when an advanced text service refers to a memory area that is not valid.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, turn off the advanced text services feature. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type control international, and then click OK.
  2. Click the Languages tab, and then click Details.
  3. Click the Advanced tab, click to select the Turn off advanced text services check box, and then click OK.
