SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running an x64-based version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the Lsass.exe process may stop unexpectedly. Then, the computer restarts. This problem occurs when the computer is under a heavy load.

Typically, this problem occurs on a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. For example, you may experience this problem when you try to stop the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service after the computer has been under a heavy load for several hours. However, this problem is not specific to Exchange 2007. This problem may occur under other circumstances.

RESOLUTION

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
