CAUSE
This issue may occur when the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server cannot connect to the domain, to the domain name system (DNS), or to the database before the time-out interval elapses.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, verify connectivity to the domain, to the DNS, and to the database. Then, verify the number of core processes that are configured.
By default, the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server is configured to have three core processes. The core process time-out interval is 60 seconds. Therefore, it may take 180 seconds for the service to start. If each core process does not connect to the domain, to the DNS, and to the database within 60 seconds, the service does not start.
To confirm the number of core processes that are configured, follow these steps:
- From the SoftGrid Management Console, connect to the SoftGrid Management Web Service.
- Expand SoftGrid Systems, expand
Server_Name
, expand Server Groups, and then expand Default Server Group. - Right-click the server that you want, and then click Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Notice the value under Number of Core Processes.
Note Changes were implemented in version 3.1.0.334 of the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server to reduce the occurrence of this issue.
