Error message when you try to start the SoftGrid Client: "Error code: xxxxxx-xxxxxx0B-0000BFFF"

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start Microsoft SoftGrid, the program does not respond and you receive the following error message:

The SoftGrid Clint could not load {application_name}.
An unexpected error occurred. Please report the following error code to your System Administrator.
Error code: xxxxxx-xxxxxx0B-0000BFFF

When this problem occurs, the following entry is logged in the SoftGrid Client log file (Sftlog.txt):

No information is available at this time.

Additionally, the following entry is logged in the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server log file (Sft-server.log):

No information is logged to sft-server.log for this error code.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the following condition is true.

  • The application is started from the command line by using the sfttray.exe command. Additionally, the .SFT file that is specified for the "/sftfile" option is not an .SFT file.

For example, the following command is invalid:

sfttray.exe /load "SoftGrid Example Application" /sftfile file://E:\ea70.osd


However, the following command is valid:

sfttray.exe /load "SoftGrid Example Application" /sftfile "file://E:\ea70.sft"
