SYMPTOMS

On a domain controller that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the LsaLookupNames function may take a very long time to retrieve a security identifier (SID) that corresponds to a user name or to a group name.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if there are many trusts between the domains on the network, and the domain name is not specified. This problem may also occur when one or more domain controllers are unresponsive.

RESOLUTION
