Article ID: 930708

Article Last Modified on 5/9/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft SoftGrid for Terminal Services
  • Microsoft SoftGrid for Windows Desktops

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start an application, you receive the following error message:

The SoftGrid Client could not launch the application you requested.
The SoftGrid Client could not use the specified OSD File because the virtual environment name has changed. Please report the following error code to your System Administrator.
Error code: xxxxxx-xxxxxx44-00001003

Additionally, the SoftGrid Client log file (Sftlog.txt) reports the following:

The SoftGrid Client cannot use the OSD file specified because the SUITE NAME attribute has changed from {suite_name} to {suite_name} (rc xxxxxx04-00001003).
Could not load OSD file {filename}.osd
The app manager could not create an application from '{filename}.osd' (rc xxxxxx44-00001003).

Finally, the SoftGrid Virtual Application Server log file (Sft-server.log) reports the following:

No information is logged to sft-server.log for this error code.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the following conditions are true:

  • There are multiple applications in the SoftGrid environment.
  • One application's .osd file has the same NAME attribute and the same VERSION attribute as another application's .osd file.
  • These two .osd files have different SUITE NAME attributes.

MORE INFORMATION

The SoftGrid Management Console prevents you from adding multiple applications that have the same name and version. However, this kind of mismatch may occur if one of the following conditions is true:

  • An application is removed from the SoftGrid Management Console. Then, a new application is added. This new application has the same NAME and VERSION attributes as the previous application, but it has a different SUITE name.
  • An existing application is modified to use a new .osd file that has the same NAME and VERSION attributes but that has a different SUITE name.
  • An .osd file for an existing application is modified to use a different SUITE name.

If an application is being replaced by a new application, the application must be removed from the SoftGrid Client cache before the new application can be streamed.

If you want both applications to exist, one of the application's NAME or VERSION attributes must be modified.
