SYMPTOMS

Symptom 1

When you run a report in Microsoft ProClarity for Reporting Services, you receive the following error message:

Error occurred while executing query. Formula error - cannot find dimension member in a name binding function.

This problem occurs when the report references a level whose Visible property is set to False in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services.

Symptom 2

Consider the following scenario. You have a report in ProClarity for Reporting Services. The report references an attribute hierarchy in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services. The value of the AttributeHierarchyVisible property of the attribute is set to False. In this scenario, when you run this report in ProClarity for Reporting Services, you receive the following error message:

Your request could not be completed.

Additionally, if you open the report in Microsoft ProClarity Desktop Professional when this problem occurs, the Missing Data wizard starts automatically.

CAUSE

This problem occurs for the following reasons.

Cause 1

ProClarity for Reporting Services does not support querying a level whose Visible property is set to False in SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services.

Cause 2

ProClarity for Reporting Services does not support querying an attribute hierarchy if the value of the AttributeHierarchyVisible property of the attribute is set to False in SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
